Over 10 years ago, Scotland Yard began Operation Ore, an investigation into paedophile rings within the UK. It was prompted by evidence handed to them by the FBI after an investigation carried out in the US into a company called Landslide Productions. The company apparently produced various media concerned with images of young children, for the sexual enjoyment of customers all over the world.
Initially, the UK media reveled in the results of the investigation and ensuing court cases; whilst one or two showbusiness names were linked with the investigation, most were ordinary citizens. Custodial sentences were handed out and all convicted had their names added to the Sex Offenders Register.
And then, it got more sinister.
Philip Lyon, a close aide to Tony Blair, at the time Prime Minister of Britain, was arrested in April 2002 as part of Operation Ore. This occured after special permission was sought to enter his office at the Houses of Parliament, resulting in the seizure of his computer upon which indecent images of children were found. Despite denying the charges, he was eventually jailed for one year.
Lyon's case began on 24th March 2003, a significant date as it was this day that Tony Blair issued a "D Notice" relating to the Operation Ore investigation, prohibiting the media publishing any further details. More telling, he placed the Parliamentary investigation section of Ore under the Official Secrets Act for 100 years.
Despite Blair's effective cover-up, rumours continued to circulate concerning other highly placed MP's names in the investigation, including Gordon Brown.
At the very least, this affair shows the utter contempt with which the ruling class in this country has for the law. At worst, it indicates the sickness prevalent amonsgt these people and reinforces my own theory that criminal psychopaths reside in positions of power all over the world. They are extremely dangerous men and women.
The time has long since passed when these people are removed from society for their own and others safety, and subjected to full punishment allowed by law.
